Aback Analytics documentation

Install the script, mark the actions that matter, connect revenue and read every number back over the API. Most sites are done in a few minutes.

Quick start

  1. Create a website

Sign up, then add a website from the dashboard with its domain and timezone. The Developers page of the website shows its tracking id and the snippet.

  2. Add the snippet to every page

    index.htmlhtml
    <script async src="https://abackanalytics.com/track.js"
      data-website-id="abk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"></script>

Pageviews, sources, campaigns, devices and countries arrive on their own, single page apps included. Guides for Next.js, React and Vite.

  3. Track what matters

    signup.jsjavascript
// After a signup succeeds, in the browser:
    aback("track", "signup_completed", { plan: "pro" });

// Or name a goal in the markup, no code needed:
    <button data-aback-goal="trial_started">Start trial</button>

Turn the event into a goal to see its conversion rate, then connect revenue to see which channel brought paying customers.

Two ids to know

Tracking id, publicabk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Goes in the browser snippet. It only lets a page send its own events and cannot read any data.

API key, secretabk_xxxxxxxx.secret

Shown once when you create it, and belongs on your server only. It sends server events and payments, and reads reports, within its scopes.

Install the app

The dashboard can be installed as an app on a phone or a computer, from the browser. It opens in its own window, with its own icon. It is not in the App Store or Google Play.

In Chrome or Edge, use the Install app button at the top of the dashboard, or the install icon in the address bar. On Android, use Add to Home screen in the browser menu. On an iPhone or iPad, open the dashboard in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.

The app needs a connection. Pages and numbers are never kept on the device, so what it shows is always current; without a connection it says so instead of showing old numbers.
